The West Ham district of Plaistow is a fantastic place to start any house hunt. In his 1977 book "What's in a Name" Cyril M. Harris states that Plaistow was recorded as "˜Plagestoue" in 1200, derived from the old English "pleg" for playing, and "stowe" for place. As such, Plaistow was literally the "playing place." And, that sense of fun is still evident today.
Back in the 1990s, Plaistow underwent an impressive £92 million regeneration programme to bring it up to date. That's a regeneration effort which gained momentum yet again during London's 2012 Olympic drive. While properties here are currently still cheaper than you might find elsewhere, then, Stratford's neighbour is well worth attention during your London move. And, with the area still gaining momentum, you'd better act fast if you want to bag a bargain in this upcoming London hotspot.
